At the same time, according to the steel grade used in production, three different grade are distinguished: M1/M2/M3. In severe sea conditions, marine anchor chains are mostly AM3 (strength level of stud chains M3, A represents stud link chains).

Usually, the length of a standard anchor chain link is 27.5m (1 Lenght=15 Fathoms=90 Feet=27.5 Meters), and the length of the chain equipped for each side of the main anchor of a 10,000-ton ship is usually about 12 links.
