Working Load Limit (WLL) is the maximum working load designed by the manufacturer. This load represents a force that is much less than that required to make the lifting equipment fail or yield. People usually calculate WLL by dividing MBL by a safety factor (SF).
The factor of safety is the minimum force the shackle must be able to withstand before breaking. It is expressed as the ratio of minimum breaking load (MBL) to the working load limit (WLL) of the shackle.
The surface treatment of shackle: Hot galvanized/Electro-galvanized/plastic spraying.
Hot-dip galvanized: thick zinc layer, strong corrosion resistance, high price.
Electro-galvanized: the zinc layer is thin, the corrosion resistance is poor, and the price is low.
We usually size the shackle according to the diameter of the bow section rather than the pin size.
